“Italian Bomb Riddim” La nuova uscita discografica dell’etichetta salentina Adriatic Sound

New release for Adriatic Sound label “Italian Bomb Riddim” available from January 25th 2019

Fuecu, fuecu!! From the shores of Salento, in south Italy, production duo Papa Leu and Rankin Lele have built an “Italian Bomb” proving once again that the riddim and tribe is LIVE worldwide: Dancehall can’t stall! Adriatic Sound will drop the “Italian Bomb Riddim” in January 2019. The riddim itself invokes a late 90’s early 2000 dancehall vibe; a driving bassline with a teasing, guitar heavy, steel pan tinged melody that makes a direct connection. The select crew of 3 dancehall mainstays, Bay C, Elephant Man and Anthony B, deliver equally classic dancehall performances. Fresh talent from yard is given a focus on the Likkle Charlie track, while the producers, Rankin Lele and Papa Leu themselves deliver the fifth track of the juggling.

A “High Grade” track, is what Anthony B brings to the juggling, with a vibrant declaration of his sacramental use of cannabis worldwide. In “Welcome to Italy”, Elephant Man shares his love for all things Italian. From Salento to shoes, Ele is back at his lyrical best, delivering a track that captures the joyful irreverence of the south coast and connects it to his Jamaican core. Bay C, from TOK fame, similarly cross connects cultures in “Pepper Pot”, voicing his appreciation for the ladies, especially Salento’s scotch bonnet hot senoritas, in patois and Italiano! Salentino dialect is less known than patois, but Rankin Lele and Papa Leu’s delivery of “Prova Cue Te Movi” showcase it in a way that already has the streets of Salento buzzing. In a listening, the riddim gives the sense that Likkle Charlie’s “Walk and Talk” is as much an order to all listeners, as it is a playful freestyle by the relative unknown.

The last track of the compilation, in perfect Jamaican style, is the instrumental “Italian Bomb Riddim”, produced by Rankin Lele and Papa Leu for Adriatic Sound and arranged with the drummer Antonio “Fossa Drummer” Miglietta and the keyboardist Alessandro “Maestro” Garofalo. Recorded in Salento, in Italy between Adriatic Sound Studio and Sud Sound System Studio, and mastered by Jamoi “J-twiss” Monteith at the Clearsonix Production Studio of Kingston in Jamaica.

Fuecu, Fuecu! Dalle coste del Salento, nel Sud Italia, il duo di produttori Rankin Lele e Papa Leu ha messo a punto l’esplosivo “Italian Bomb Riddim”, ribadendo ancora una volta quanto la scena reggae salentina sia viva  e diffusa in tutto il mondo. La musica dancehall non si ferma e Adriatic Sound lancerà “Italian Bomb Riddim” il prossimo 25 gennaio 2019.

Il ritmo stesso invoca l’atmosfera dancehall degli ultimi anni ‘90 e primi 2000, guidato da una linea di basso ipnotica, una chitarra allegra, e la melodia colorata da steel pan che evoca una tipica atmosfera caraibica. Un gruppo selezionato di personaggi di spicco della dancehall mondiale, Bay C, Elephant Man ed Anthony B, regalano performance di classe. Il talento fresco della yard viene fuori invece da Little Charlie, mentre i produttori, Rankin Lele e Papa Leu consegnano la quinta traccia per il jugglin’ (il gioco del mix fatto dal selector).

“High Grade” è il brano del bobo dread Anthony B, con la sua vibrante dichiarazione sull’uso sacramentale della cannabis in tutto il mondo. In “Welcome to Italy”, Elephant Man condivide il suo amore per tutto ciò che è italiano, dal Salento alla Sicilia, dallo stile alla moda: un inno al Made in Italy. Elephant Man è tornato alle sue migliori liriche, offrendo una traccia che cattura la gioiosa irriverenza del Sud Italia e della sua Giamaica. La miscela culturale continua in “Pepper Pot” con Bay C, il famoso cantante dei TOK, che canta la sua ammirazione per le donne sia in “patois” che in italiano, riferendosi in particolare alle calde salentine paragonate allo “Scotch Bonnet” (un potentissimo peperoncino giamaicano)!

Il dialetto salentino è meno conosciuto nel mondo rispetto al “patois” giamaicano, ma Rankin Lele e Papa Leu in “Prova Cu Te Movi” dimostrano quanto la musica e la cultura dancehall sia diffusa nelle strade del Salento. L’ascolto del riddim dà la sensazione che “Walk and Talk” di Little Charlie lasci il segno, un gioco di parole in un frenetico freestylee tirato fuori chissà da dove.

L’ultima traccia della compilation, in perfetto stile giamaicano, è la base strumentale “Italian Bomb Riddim”, prodotta da Rankin Lele e Papa Leu per Adriatic Sound e arrangiata insieme al batterista Antonio “Fossa Drummer” Miglietta e al tastierista Alessandro “Maestro” Garofalo. Registrato nel Salento, in Italia tra Adriatic Sound Studio e Sud Sound System Studio, e masterizzato da Jamoi “J-twiss” Monteith al Clearsonix Production Studio di Kingston in Giamaica.
