JAMAICA-BORN reggae/dancehall artiste Tenza (also known as the Boss Lady) is pleased with her recent performances over six weeks in Europe.

“The way they embraced the music and the Jamaican culture was absolutely amazing and memorable. They came out in their numbers,” Tenza told the Jamaica Observer.

The gigs, which started in early July, saw the artiste performing mainly club dates in Italy, Finland, Austria, Holland, Norway, and Sweden. It was used to promote Tenza’s third album Pon De Endz Again. Her previous albums are Wicked Like Me and Out N Clean.

She said the Italian region of Salento stood out among the places she performed.

“The atmosphere was like being back in Jamaica, where every night was another party and people just rave non-stop to dancehall and reggae music even if it’s raining,” she said.

Tenza, whose real name is Jaseen Foster, recorded the song, Move Up, with Italian deejays Rankin Lele and Papa Leu.

Tenza was born in Montego Bay, but migrated to Slough in south east England as a teenager.

“Moving to the United Kingdom was a big step for me as my life improved greatly. My mother has 12 children and my father was in prison most of the time so she had to struggle with us,” she explained.

After attending music classes and entering contests, she became a member of the group Fya which was once signed to rap label Def Jam.

In 2010, Tenza relaunched her career as a solo artiste and has recorded a number of songs including Waistline Crazy, Solid as a Rock, This is Me, Out and Clean and Push and Turn.

Tenza, who is signed to TMD Records, says she has promotional dates lined-up for Germany, Romania, Gambia and Senegal later this year.
